Matthew has been teaching the Piano/Keyboard and Cello for over 20 years and specialises in Jazz, Blues, Harmony, improvisation, and composition. He has helped many pupils achieve a Distinction in exams, particularly in the Associated Boards Jazz grades (Piano) and on the Cello.

Matthew has a music degree obtained at Cambridge, and a teaching Diploma (LGSM), obtained at the Royal School of Music, London. Matt has achieved Distinctions in grade 8 Cello and Piano, both Jazz and Classical.

Matthew believes in bringing out the natural musicianship of the individual, actively encouraging the development of aural skills with original ideas, which he believes to be vital in order to grow as a musician. Matthew promotes the development of improvisation with the understanding of chords. He believes this to go hand in hand with improving sight-reading and in general performance of set pieces, from blues, jazz and funk.

Matthew's business is to make learning fun, creative and rewarding. He teaches at all ages and abilities.
