Welcome to the Matt Platt Homepage. Please feel free to access the services that MP3 promotion’s can provide.

Matthew was born in 1962; he started learning the Cello at the age of seven, inspired by his mother Gillian, a wonderful musician whom he was greatly influenced by.
‘My Mother didn't teach me a note, but between teaching I would rush to the piano and play what I’d heard, always by ear. This developed into great duets with Mum, where we would harmonise and improvise tunes together on the spot developing like an exciting conversation, and it could go on for ever-with no sheet music in sight! This natural musicianship was a gift that Matt developed through his teens, and forms the basis of his creativity and enthusiasm for all forms of music.
Since obtaining a music degree in 1985, Matt has been fortunate enough to enjoy a full and varied life as a musician. Having moved close to Brackley, Northamptonshire some 10 years ago, he is now in great demand as a Pianist, Cellist, Teacher and composer, in a variety of fields, from Jazz/Funk to Classical.

Having played with artists from Supergrass to country legend, Albert Lee, and more recently playing keyboards with Blues maestro Bernie Marsden (of Whitesnake fame), Matt has completed his second album’ Back to Front’. This is an original album of Jazz Funk and Latin instrumentals, featuring his band MP3, the Matt Platt Trio, with a variety of guest musicians(see Band for more info). Live gigs have created a considerable buzz, in an ever increasing area, and Matt and the band MP3+ (a 6 piece now at its best) are enjoying the variety of gigs and acclaim, but most of all, the shear enjoyment of playing to a live audience.

Matt has written music for short films, corporate events and promotions, and 18 pieces of music for for Saatchi and Saatchi advertisements.

Matt has taught piano/keys and cello privately for over 20 years, specialising in jazz, blues, and composition, and holds a part time teaching post, specialising in composition to A level standard in Oxfordshire.

In addition, Matt spends time in the studio, sessioning for various artists and is currently writing new material for a forthcoming album.

Matt and his wife Sharon have been married for over 10 years, they have two children, Luke and Sophie, who occupy free time!

My thanks to Ian Preston and Byron Williams for this fab site.
